Critical LinkS – a New Generation: future-proofing interpreting & translating
Editor-in-chief: Christine Wilson
Thank you again for attending the Critical Link 8 conference. We hope you found it both useful and enjoyable. Although the feedback is still being collated, the initial impression is that the majority of the feedback received is very positive indeed.
As mentioned during the closing session of Critical Link 8, we shall be preparing publications following on from the conference. Once again, the publisher, John Benjamins, has agreed to consider publishing a volume of selected papers. Some papers may be more suitable for professional journals or for the website.
As a conference presenter, you are invited to submit your research paper for possible inclusion in the edited collection of selected papers to be submitted for publication by John Benjamins. This will be the most recent in the series of Critical Link volumes published by John Benjamins since the first one The Critical Link: Interpreters in the Community, in 1997.
Under the “umbrella” of the theme in the title, this volume may comprise sections linked to the following, or similar, themes related to community/public service interpreting and translating:
- Tomorrow’s challenges & solutions (policy / practice / price)
- Tomorrow’s professionals (interpreters, translators, other...profiles, practice, etc.)
- Training & education (pedagogy, resources, etc.)
- Technology (development, role, etc.)
- Emerging fields, innovative developments, etc.
The deadline for the submission of papers (6000-7000 words) is 20 December 2016 (by midnight GMT). Papers should be sent as an attachment in an email to CriticalLink8@hw.ac.uk. The title of the attached file should be in the following format: CL8_SURNAME OF LEAD AUTHOR (e.g. CL8_BOWLES).
