The Gala Dinner will be held in The Hub, a few steps away from Edinburgh Castle, on Castlehill. Home to Edinburgh's International Festival, The Hub, an iconic Gothic landmark, dominates the skyline on the Royal Mile between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace, in the heart of the historic Old Town. The Hub's spire is the highest point in central Edinburgh. Inside, this unique and spectacular venue is a blend of award-winning contemporary style and Victorian architecture.
The Gala Dinner will include an arrival drinks reception, followed by a three-course dinner with wine, and tea or coffee to finish. A post-dinner bar for drinks will be open in the Dunard Library.
A Ceilidh, led by a live ceilidh band and a caller, will follow dinner. Ceilidh is a Gaelic word and traditionally represents an informal social gathering or party with entertainment - music, singing, storytelling and dancing. Ceilidh dancing is Scottish country dancing done for fun and enjoyment, rather than taken too seriously, and can be managed by absolute beginners. A Caller will talk you through the dances before you begin and call out the steps during the dance. Dances are often set dances (for groups of 6 or 8 people) and local people attending the ceilidh will be able to help guide everyone in the right direction. Watching the dancing can be as much fun as joining in! To see more about ceilidh dancing, click here
Transport will be organised between Heriot-Watt University campus and The Hub and as appropriate.
If your partner or a friend is accompanying you to Edinburgh, you can purchase a Gala Dinner & Ceilidh ticket for them too, so that they can share the experience and join in the fun.
