Rooms have been reserved for Critical Link 8 conference delegates on the Heriot-Watt University campus, close to the Conference Centre and other University facilities and offering a convenient and affordable option. Rooms are single en-suite rooms, serviced daily, with shower room, wi-fi internet access, tea/coffee-making facilities and access to communal guest lounges, as well as good parking. Heriot-Watt University's 380 acre woodland campus has excellent on-site amenities, including dining facilities, a bar, bank with ATM, medical centre, small supermarket, bookshop, hairdresser's, launderette and the Centre for Sports and Exercise, making Heriot-Watt University a great choice for comfortable and affordable accommodation. The picturesque sunken garden and tranquil setting with woodland campus walks, jogging circuit and loch offer opportunities for making the most of your stay in Edinburgh.

Cancellation Policy

No refunds will be given after 1st May 2016.
All cancellations must be received in writing - by email, fax or hardcopy mail. Any reduction in nights after this date will be treated as a cancellation and no refund will be given.

 

 

Critical Link 8 Off-site Accommodation

As well as university accommodation which is located on-site, there is also accommodation being held in a number of hotels and self-catering apartments in Edinburgh city centre for delegates attending Critical Link 8 which can be booked through the Critical Link 8 website. Any rooms/apartments not booked by mid-May will normally be released back to the hotels, so the CL8 room rates may not be available after 16 May.

Please note that the hotel/apartment will require a credit card which is valid at the time of your stay to guarantee your reservation. Your credit card details will be forwarded to the hotel/apartment prior to your arrival to secure your booking and may be charged the full amount of your stay.

In the event of non-arrival or cancellation after 16 May 2016, the hotel/apartment may charge to the card an amount up to the equivalent of the full stay. Please note that any reduction in the number of room nights booked after 16 May 2016 will be treated as a cancellation by the hotel/apartment.

Please ensure that your credit card is valid at the time of the conference otherwise your accommodation cannot be guaranteed.

Rates quoted are per night inclusive of breakfast (unless otherwise stated) and VAT at the prevailing rate. The information provided is correct at the time of publication.

It will not be possible to walk to the conference site from accommodation in Edinburgh's city centre as the university is approximately 6 miles (about 9 km) from the city centre. If you opt to stay off-campus, you can get to Heriot-Watt University via public transport or taxi.

BUS - Lothian Buses offers local bus services 25, X25, 34, 45, 63 and N25/N34 (night bus) to Heriot-Watt University's Edinburgh Campus. Service 25 is the most frequent, leaving the city centre every 10 minutes during the day, and every 15 minutes after 8.00pm. The journey takes about 30 minutes from the city centre, depending on what time of day you are travelling. Fares from the city cost £1.50 single/£4.00 day ticket. Note that exact money is required for Lothian Buses, but you can pay for tickets using your mobile phone, if preferred.
TAXI – there are a number of taxi ranks in the centre of Edinburgh, including at Waverley and Haymarket railway stations and St Andrew Square bus station. You can also phone a taxi direct or book at the hotel reception desk. The journey to Heriot-Watt University takes about 20–30 minutes from the city centre, depending on traffic. The fare costs around £12- £15 and up to 5 people can share a taxi cab. You can request a taxi at the main reception desk, at Heriot-Watt University (dedicated phone-line), for the return journey to the city centre or by mobile.
